Weka Design is the home of web application developer Mike McMurray. I help provide technical solutions to areas of business that struggle to use the data they already own.

The main goal of this site is to let some of my more generic projects take their first steps in the world. Different projects are at varying maturity levels with a few seeing production use on intranets. The blog contains snippets of information I think others may find useful about building apps, configuring servers and infrastructure virtualisation.

I aim to create functional, good looking browser based applications to aid in running your business. A number of projects have stemmed from legacy systems that have not kept up with new work flows and business processes for more mobile work forces.

A selection of the more mature projects are listed below,

  • Kisimi – an evolved Wiki system that gives you more control securing your information in a public space like the internet. Control access and share information in an open, free environment. Free download to run on your own servers, or contact me to arrange configuration and hosting on the web.
  • Mende – ticket tracking and simple milestone management for software projects.
  • Overview – monitor your IT infrastructure to maximise availability and be notified of problems before your users find out. Collect historical data for trend analysis and create alerts on anything from CPU usage to RAM to disk and network capacity to counting Citrix users on a server.
  • DisplayPoint – use your old PCs and a browser to create smart dashboards in your business containing image slideshows, videos, external websites, RSS feeds and custom messages.
  • Asset Manager – automatically scan your network for Windows devices to collect asset information on hardware, software, printers and users. Where they are, who’s been using them and how many copies of spyware X have been installed.
  • Active Directory Group Manager – search for users or computers and manage their group memberships. Drag and drop groups between users or computers. The app is being created for a move from user based to computer based provisioning.
  • Need2Know – a simple dashboard aimed at Service Desk groups to update important information.
