Changes in Kisimi
This is a quick and dirty list of code updates and modifications that affect any user facing sections. These should be posted on the front page for a while before being archived here.
For further details, read these in conjunction with tickets logged in Mende.
September 2008
- added in functionality for the Universal Edit Button project. Install the Firefox Add-On and you’ll see a toolbar button on each page you can edit. All the cool wiki providers are doing it :-)
- you can now use a Recaptcha to verify human input and prevent spam. This will undergo more testing on the live site before ending up in the download.
- tidy up of a few pieces of code.
July 2008
- general bug fixes, new installer for the release and an overall tidy up.
- 20080712 - bug fix and privacy of log entries for file attachments.
- more admin options for Analytics code and managing locked pages.
- GPL noted on main page and included in the source.
May 2008
- more back-end changes to help prevent bot spamming. My man-hood is just fine thank you Mr Spammer.
March 2008
- you can now view your Sent Items in the messaging area.
- email your friends when you find something interesting, just plonk their address into the page and they get it. No messing around with URLs or email clients. Messages you send this way show up in your Sent Items.
- the easiest way ever to license your content. Got something you want to mark as your own but still share it around? Use the tried and tested licenses from Creative Commons and apply them to your work. The license and a link to what it means show up at the bottom of each page.
November 2007
- some more behind the scenes work has smartened up the admin tools (you’ll have to take my word for that, or send mike a message to ask for admin access).
- you now have one-click rollbacks on any page changes. Just compare, choose and click.
- fresh out of the oven is versioning for your file uploads. If you upload a file of the same name the previous one gets stored with a version number and all revisions are accessible from your file listing under Attachments.
- trying to remember where you’ve just been is now a thing of the past. A history of page views (breadcrumbs) is available in the location and depth of your choice. Have a look at your user preferences.
- it’s been a while between updates but Kisimi now has Discussion pages and allows you to subscribe to changes on any wiki page. So you can now keep an eye on updates and follow any changes to your pages.
April 2007
- Kisimi now has it’s own messaging system to help you communicate with other users. Login and look at the top of your Admin page (click on your name in the top right after logging in). You’ll find a new section with any messages you’ve received and you can send your own messages. Try it out by sending a message to mike.
