Protected Pages
Under some circumstances you may wish to prevent others from making changes to a page that you own. This is call Protecting the page or making it Read Only.
When a page is Protected it is still viewable by everyone but no-one other than the owner can edit it. The normal Edit this Page button will not be available to other users.
To Protect a page, view it and click on the Edit this Page button or menu link. If you are the owner of the page you will see three links in the Make Changes menu to the right of the edit area, one of which is Protect from Changes. A simple click on this link will immediately Protect the page and you will see the button change to Allow Changes. If you click it again, the page will lose it’s read-only status.
The Protected Page icon
will appear next to the page title when editing, so you know the current status. Looking at the Page Info section of any page will also give you the status.
But I Want Access to a Protected Page
If you are not the one who set the protection on the page and you wish to make changes then you have to ask the page owner. To do this simply view the page in question and click on the Request Change Access menu item on the right. A message will be automatically sent to the correct person with your request.
