Uploading Files
You can upload most anything and store it on your Kisimi server, but there are some restrictions depending on what the admin team has configured.
- Files will have a maximum size. This is set for 2MB as a default. If you try and upload anything larger than this it will not be saved.
- Only certain file types are allowed by default. These include all the normal things like images (jpeg, png, tiff, tec), documents (doc, xls, ppt, pdf, etc) and compressed files.
To store a file in Kisimi and then use it on one of your wiki pages is easy, just follow these steps.
- Make sure you are logged into Kisimi
- Click on the Attachments menu entry on the top left.
- Use the Browse... button to find the file on your own computer.
- If you want to change the name (include the file extension) and add a description.
- Press the Save File button and wait. Depending on the size of the file you selected and your internet connection, this may take a minute.
- After the file is successfully uploaded you’ll see a message at the top of the page that includes a link to your file. Record this link and use it in your wiki pages. You can also right-click on it and use your web browser’s options to record it.
That’s it. Your file is now in Kisimi and linkable to any wiki pages.
You should be careful about what you upload into Kisimi and the internet in general. Never upload data or files without the permission of the owner and always make backups. If the administrators have allowed everyone access to all files (not the default), someone else might delete your files.
